The district Ghaziabad is one of the six districts of Meerut Mandal and one of the major industrial districts of Uttar Pradesh. Prior to 14 November 1976, the district Ghaziabad was known as a tehsil under district Meerut. On November 14, 1976, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the first Prime Minister of India, Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, the UP Government gave Ghaziabad the distinction of the district. The district has made progress in the social, economic, agricultural and industrial sector twice a day.

The district came into existence with 10 development blocks including Rajapur, Muradnagar, Bhojpur, Hapur, Dhaulana, Loni, Simbhaoli, Garhmukteshwar and Dadri, Bisrakh blocks of present Bulandshahr district of Meerut district. Ghaziabad, Dadri, Hapur and Garhmukteshwar were its first four tehsils. Later on September 30, 1989 Modinagar was given the status of Tehsil. Noida was incorporated in Gautam Budh Nagar in May 1997 about the status of industrial development and law and order situation. As a result, only 8 development blocks were left in Ghaziabad, which were merged with Meerut while making Ghaziabad a new district. Dadri tehsil of Ghaziabad district was also included in Gautam Budh Nagar district, where only 4 tehsils were left to Ghaziabad, Modinagar, Hapur and Garhmukteshwar, but on 27th September, 2011 due to the creation of the newly created district Hapur, the district was divided into two tehsils Ghaziabad and Ghaziabad. Modinagar and four development blocks – Rajapur, Muradnagar, Bhojpur, Loni were left but the date of creation of new Tehsil Loni has been done on January 29, 2014 Due to the reason now in Ghaziabad, three tehsils Ghaziabad, Modinagar and Loni and four development blocks – Rajapur, Muradnagar, Bhojpur, Loni are in Ghaziabad.

• Mohan Nagar Temple

  On going to Ghaziabad from Mohan Nagar crossroads, Mohan Nagar Temple is on the left side of GT Road. Apart from the grand statue of Goddess Mother, there are statues of many deities.   City Forest Park, which is located on the banks of the Hindon, has walking trails, cycle tracks, horse-riding facility and guided tours for visitors with open gypsy/jeep rides.The project, which is spread across 175 acres,and is offering the public an opportunity to try all rides. The park is open from 5am to 7.30pm on all seven days. The pathway for hikers is narrower. Trees like neem, bamboo, amla, jamun, arjun have been planted along the routes, “This gives the whole place the look of a natural forest,In the last one year, nearly two lakh saplings of different varieties have been planted in the area in addition to the existing tree cover of the region. The entire project area has been divided into nine blocks – A to I – with different features and facilities in each part.
