Know about Hamirpur City:

Hamirpur district is a part of Chitrakoot Dham Division of Uttar Pradesh state of India. Hamirpur town is the district headquarters. It consists of Four Tehsil namely Hamirpur, Maudaha, Rath,Sarila and Seven Blocks namely Gohand, Kurara, Maudaha, Muskara, Rath, Sarila, Sumerpur. Hamirpur is bounded by districts Jalaun (Orai), Kanpur and Fatehpur in north, Banda in east, Mahoba in south and Districts of Jhansi and Jalaun in the West.

The district occupies an area of 4,121.9 km². The district has a population of 1,042,374 (2001 census). As of 2011 it is the third least populous district of Uttar Pradesh (out of 71), after Mahoba and Chitrakoot. Two major rivers Yamuna and Betwa meet here . On the banks of river Betwa lies the “Coarse sand” which is exported to many parts in Uttar Pradesh.

  • Shri Siddha Peeth Mumukshu Ashram (Gaura Devi)

    Shri Siddha Peeth Mumukshu Ashram (Gaura Devi) is the place of about 250 years old Gaura Devi Siddhapeeth and Lord Shankar in village Ingohta. In 1965, the enlightened saint Shri Rotiram Maharaj came to this place under whose direction a thousand Chandiyagya was organised in 1972, since then every year a big fair is held at this place. It is situated at a distance of 26 km from the district headquarter.

 

  • Sisolar's Temples and Mausoleums

    The famous religious place by the name of Maharaj Baba is the Paramandir and the Samadhi Sthal. Maharaj Baba had taken a living samadhi about 300 years ago, the food of the Bhandara never diminishes at this place, no matter how many devotees come. No one tells lies in the temple premises, otherwise there are bad results. The priest of the temple is always of Kori (Scheduled Caste) and in the Bhandara, food is first served to the people of Kori caste. Yagya is the centre of the faith of the local people. It is situated at a distance of 40 km from district headquarters and 19 km from Sumerpur.

 

  • Shri Banke Bihari Temple

    Village Gahrauli of Shri Banke Bihari Mandir Muskra development block, which is the most populated village of the district. Built in the year 1872, this temple is a unique example of Indian craftsmanship. In this temple, from the walls to the ceiling, the pictures of the deities have been painted through oil paintings. In the freedom struggle, this temple was the main centre of revolutionary activities, from here the revolutionary newspaper “Bundelkhand Kesari” was published secretly. It is situated at a distance of 61 km from district headquarters and 9 km from Muskra.

 

  • Kariyari's Monastery

    Chandela period ancient monastery, which has been built by carving granite rocks. These rocks have been carved from outside and they were established as a monastery without the addition of any spices. The Shivling installed in it was there till a few years ago. The stones of the temple, which are not present today, have been placed in such a way that there is a space between the stones of the walls of the temple, due to which the scorching heat is not felt inside the temple. It is currently acquired by the Archaeological Survey of India. Distance from district headquarters is 70 km and Sarila is situated at a distance of 2 km from Gohand main road.

 

  • Quadrilateral Baba Vishnu Mandir Beera (Birwahi)

    This ancient temple is a rare specimen of Chandel period sculpture. The original temple was built about 1000 years ago with only stone stones. In this temple there are huge stone idols of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi. The idols have been fragmented, the remains of many ancient idols have been found in the excavation here. A fair is held here every year on the new moon of Chaitra month. Distance from district headquarters is 67 km. It is situated at a distance of 8 km from Rahatiya Mode on Sarila road. This temple is situated 500 metres west of the main road in Birwadi village (Bira) on Sarila Gohand road, 2 km north of Bundelkhand Expressway and 80 km from district headquarters.
